Communication with people from other countries is fun. Use common greetings and daily phrases first, and you can start good communication. But be careful: word-for-word translation does not often work well.
Words and phrases have meanings in their own cultures. Their usage depends on the situation, as we have seen in the “Sumimasen” examples.
You can’t have meaningful communication with language alone. You should understand the cultures behind it as well. Keep that in mind when you communicate with people around the world.
